Grizzlies Celebrate Grand Opening of the MRPK

It was more than a celebration for the Grimsby Grizzlies, it was a celebration for the entire community! We just got to be a huge part of that. After comments and opening ceremonies the festivities kicked off at the Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre in what will no doubtedly become the hub of activity for the Grimsby community. Boasting 2 full size gymnasiums, a walking track, community use spaces, and much more the new facility is an exciting place for all community members. 

How does Grimsby Basketball fit in? 

We were integral in the planning and design of the space. We were fortunate to be consulted through much of the process to ensure that space was going to be a great fit for the basketball community. It's great to have a space with updated FIBA line markings, state of the art shot clocks and scoreboards, and a very large area for spectators. Of course the highlight for Grimsby Basketball was seeing our logo at centre court. 

As the only basketball club that will be running programming there we are excited to continue to grow and develop both our house league and rep programs. Many teams will transfer their practices to the new facility starting this week. We are also hosting 10 Ontario Basketball League weekends as well as 3 Ontario Cup Championships. These will be great opportunities to not only share the space with out of town teams but a huge boost for Grimsby's tourism community. 

We had a great day yesterday, and spoke with many families that visited our information table. We also ran sessions on the court with some of our amazing coaches, trainers, and players.
